Houston, Texas – May 25, 2017 – Texas Orthopedic Hospital is one of only 19 hospitals in the country, and the only hospital in Houston, to obtain a 5-star hospital rating by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on two separate hospital measures.

CMS, part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), evaluates hospitals based on 2 major star ratings:

The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey is the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients' perspectives of hospital care and 2. Overall Hospital Quality Star rating, incorporating outcomes measures as well as patient experience scores.

There are presently 188 hospitals with a 5-star HCAHPS star rating and 83 have an overall 5-star hospital quality star rating. There are a mere 19 hospitals in our nation that rank a perfect 5-star rating in both programs and Texas Orthopedic Hospital has achieved this honor.

On behalf of Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Eric Becker, Chief Executive Officer, comments that, “Texas Orthopedic Hospital is very pleased to receive such prestigious recognition as the only hospital in Houston to obtain perfect 5 star rankings on both CMS measures.
