Houston, Texas — Texas Orthopedic Hospital is proud to announce it has successfully extended its Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification. This prestigious recognition, covering the period of 2019–2028, honors the hospital’s continuous compliance with elite performance standards and its unwavering commitment to safe, high-quality patient care.

Offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, this certification evaluates the entire patient journey. The rigorous standards track every stage of care—from the initial pre-surgical consultation and the procedure itself to hospitalization, rehabilitation, and the final follow-up visit.

In February 2026, Texas Orthopedic Hospital underwent a comprehensive, unannounced onsite review. During the visit, Joint Commission experts evaluated key clinical areas, including program management and care facilitation. These standards are developed alongside healthcare providers and patients to ensure the highest level of clinical excellence.

“Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification recognizes healthcare organizations committed to striving for excellence and fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, The Joint Commission. “We commend Texas Orthopedic Hospital for using The Joint Commission certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and to strengthen its clinical program to drive safer, higher quality and more compassionate care for individuals served.”

"This certification reinforces Texas Orthopedic Hospital’s position as a leader in specialized orthopedic care," said Eric Becker, CEO of Texas Orthopedic Hospital. "By meeting these rigorous standards, we are delivering on our promise to provide cost-effective and high-quality outcomes centered entirely on our patients. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our entire team, whose competence and positive attitude make it possible for us to change lives every single day."
