Texas Orthopedic Hospital offers a number of hospital volunteer opportunities, both year-round for adults and during the summer for students. Applications to our Summer Volunteer Program are accepted in March and April. This program officially kicks off during the first week of June.
Volunteers are a vital part of the caring atmosphere at Texas Orthopedic Hospital. Those who participate in our hospital volunteer program dedicate their time, energy, and talents to assist patients and family members during their stay with us.
Volunteers work everywhere throughout Texas Orthopedic Hospital, including:
- Information desks
- Waiting rooms
- Recovery rooms
- Dietary department
- International relations
- Medical records
Furthermore, volunteers work to brighten our inpatients’ stays by visiting their rooms with refreshment and magazine carts, floral deliveries, or simply a friendly word.
Benefits of Volunteering
Many of the volunteers at Texas Orthopedic Hospital have been patients themselves. Sharing their personal experiences helps them connect with the patients they meet. Volunteers also enjoy the many benefits of service, including:
- Meeting new people
- Contributing to the community
- Making a difference in the lives of others
- Bringing joy to patients and visitors
- Celebrating at the annual volunteer appreciation gala
- Free meal and parking during each shift
