Amenities

At Texas Orthopedic Hospital, patients and visitors alike have access to a number of conveniences. We provide the following amenities to our patients and guests:

We offer spacious suites for the comfort of our patients. All suites are private. You may have one overnight guest stay in your room, if desired. All other visitors will be asked to leave at the end of visiting hours (9pm daily) in order to facilitate rest during your recovery process.

Ample covered parking is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Optional valet services are available Monday through Friday, 6:00am – 6:00pm, in front of the hospital, for a flat rate of $11 per day. Handicap-accessible spaces are available for those patients with special needs. There is no charge for weekend parking, beginning Friday at 10:00pm until Monday at 6:00am. Five-day parking passes are available. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or otherwise restricted areas. Please lock your car. If you need assistance with your vehicle or more information on parking, please call a Security Representative at extension 3999.

Each patient suite has a thermostat to assist in keeping temperatures regulated for comfort. Medications can often make a patient feel warmer than usual, so rooms are generally cool. If at any time you would like additional blankets, they will be provided.

Telephones are provided in each patient suite. If you are trying to reach a hospital employee, you may dial that extension directly from your phone. These numbers are generally located on the board in your suite.

For outside calls, simply dial 9 to access an outside line and then the number. Long distance and toll calls must either be made via a personal cell phone or with the assistance of the hospital operator. These calls may not be charged to your hospital bill.

You may reach the hospital operator at any time for assistance by dialing “0.”

Your family and friends may call your suite directly. Patient telephone numbers are listed on your communication board on the wall in your suite.

Wireless internet connection is available for patients and guests.

Letters and parcels for patients are delivered to your room. Mail that arrives after you have been discharged is forwarded to your home address. Outgoing mail may be left at the nurses’ station. Additionally, there is a mailbox outside the front of the hospital with daily pickup by the U.S. Postal Service.

A complimentary morning newspaper will be delivered with your breakfast tray when you check the appropriate box on your breakfast menu. Newspapers and magazines may also be purchased on the first floor near the Corner Café.

The ATM is located inside the Corner Café on the first floor, for your convenience.

The services of a notary are available to our patients free of charge. Please ask your caregiver for assistance.

Texas Orthopedic Hospital believes that patient-focused care involves attention to the spiritual as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient. We will be glad to call clergy from any denomination or religious affiliation to meet your needs during your stay.

A telecommunications device is available to facilitate communication with hearing-impaired patients. Arrangements may also be made for a signer to help any hearing-impaired or deaf patient. Please ask your caregiver for assistance.

To provide a safe and healthy environment, Texas Orthopedic Hospital supports zero tolerance for violence. Security Representatives are located in the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can be reached by dialing extension 3999.

All verbal or nonverbal threats should be reported to your nurse or a hospital Security Representative immediately.

Food and Nutrition Services

Wholesome, nourishing, well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Texas Orthopedic Hospital provides nutritious meals that are prepared according to your physician’s orders.

As soon as possible, dietary will contact you for your menu selection. Patient meals are delivered from 7:00 to 8:30am for breakfast, 12 to 1:30pm for lunch, and 5:15 to 6:45pm for dinner. Occasionally, your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment.

Meal selections will be obtained by our Guest Services Technicians or Dietitian, however, food and nutrition staff are available at extension 3671 for any requests from 6:00am – 7:30pm The House Supervisor may assist with any dietary requests beyond these hours. You may reach the House Supervisor at any time by dialing “0” on your telephone.

If you are on a special diet prescribed by your physician during your stay with us, you will receive a menu tailored to your specific needs. You may notice some variation from your selections if your selections differ from your physician’s orders.

Should you have personal dietary restrictions (example: Kosher, Gluten-free, etc.) please notify your nursing personnel or dial extension 3671 immediately so that all accommodations can be arranged to meet your needs.

The Corner Café at Texas Orthopedic Hospital is open Monday through Friday from 6:30am until 7:00pm. Service is provided Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 10:00am, 11:00am until 2:00pm, and 5:30pm to 7:00pm. The dining room seating area is open 24 hours a day.

Please have your guest enjoy one complimentary meal in our Corner Café as a THANK YOU for selecting Texas Orthopedic Hospital for your healthcare needs. The one meal ticket is provided upon admission to your room in your “Welcome Letter” and will be accepted upon check out of the Corner Café on the first floor.

The Bones Bistro is our rooftop eatery located on the fifth floor and is open Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 4:00pm. Proudly serving made to order sandwiches, pastries, snacks, and a full array of Starbucks beverages. There is ample room to relax and enjoy a spectacular view of the city.

Vending machines for snacks and beverages are located in the dining room located on the first floor and are available 24 hours a day.

Visitor Information

We understand the important role that family members and support people play in your health journey. We encourage visitors to see patients between the hours of 9:00am and 9:00pm and provide a number of conveniences during this time.

Visitors are encouraged to visit between 9:00am and 9:00pm subject to specific restrictions as to time, age, or number of visitors in specific areas. No visitors will be allowed to enter the hospital after 9:00pm without the approval of the House Supervisor. Announcements of the end of visitation hours will be made by loudspeaker system or by staff in each area at 8:45pm. Charge Nurses will clear the floors by 9:00pm.

During your surgery, family members can relax in the surgery waiting areas near the operating rooms on the first and second floors. Reading materials and coffee are available to make the wait as pleasant as possible.

The ATM is located inside the Corner Café on the first Floor, for your convenience.

Visitors should check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients. Please check with the nurse to make sure the gift is appropriate. Floral arrangements and other gifts are available for purchase in the Bones Bistro on the 5th floor.
